Shelter Construction for the Sophia Rusova Lyceum in Ripky
The village of Ripky is located 20 kilometers from the border with Belarus, and alarms here can last up to 3 hours. From the very beginning of the war, part of the Ripky community was under occupation, and convoys of Russian vehicles in transit passed through the center of the community.

As a result of the high water level, the basement of the school, where 300 students and 75 preschoolers from the nearby Kindergarten “Kolosok” have to hide during an alarm, was flooded. In some rooms, the water level rose to 1.4 meters, leaving half-wet walls and puddles on the floor. In the rooms without a floor, the school staff moves on covered boards, because the ground is still very wet. It is necessary to remove up to 60 cubic meters of clay and earth from two unfurnished premises.
“There used to be boundless swamps here,” says Serhii Garus, head of the Ripky community. “Now we are building a water-reduction system here so that water cannot come near here. We have already invested 1.2 million of our own funds, but we still need about two million to restore the entire basement. Then the shelter of the Lyceum will be able to accommodate up to 500 people.”
