The Mykhailo-Kotsyubynske territorial community has been under occupation for a long time. That resulted in numerous thefts of the community’s educational facilities by the Russian occupiers, destroying and damaging of the educational institutions, thefts and confiscations of IT equipment and mobile phones from families with children.

Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske Lyceum damaged by russian missile

Type of institution: hub-school

Number of aid recipients: 545

Form of education: distance learning

Priority: 18

Location: Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske community, Chernihiv Region

The territory of the community is very large, so nine institutions of general secondary education are distant from each other, which creates difficulties in getting to the specific institution. This situation is worsened by the extremely poor condition of roads damaged by enemy vehicles.

The biggest educational institution of the community – Mykhailo-Kotsyubynsky Lyceum – is designated as a reference institution. Currently 70% of it is destroyed by a russian missile (six classrooms, including a computer classroom, a biology classroom, and a library). One person died.

The issue of organizing high-quality distance learning is critical. Many children do not have the technical ability to join classes because they were robbed during the occupation.

Children of vulnerable categories need special attention: orphans and children deprived of parental care, internally displaced persons, children of combatants, children of deceased war veterans, children with disabilities, children from large families, children affected by the Chernobyl disaster, and children from low-income families. Out of 890 education seekers, 545 are in preferential categories, which is 62% of the total number. These categories of children need special support in accessing educational resources.

Solution:

According to the community data, it is necessary to purchase at least 545 tablets so that the children of the community could study remotely. Under current conditions, they are completely deprived of access to education.

Estimated cost: UAH 4.4 million.
